Computer Related

I use Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for the military. I use Excel for tracking expenses for my business and managing my budget. I use HTML and CSS to keep my wife's website up to date, and I am the tech-savvy guy for my parents and family. I also have some foundational knowledge of PC troubleshooting for both Windows and Linux. I am familiar with the hardware and components of a desktop PC

Work-Ethic Related

I worked several jobs since I graduated high school. I joined the National Guard several months after graduating. I pride myself on my ability to learn, and I enjoy learning new things. I have a great work ethic and am coachable. I have been managing as a subcontractor for the past 5 years, which I believe demonstrates my ability to be successful and manage time well.

Having run my own business for the past five years, I understand the importance of attention to detail and keeping a time frame. Running my own business has also taught me the importance of customer service and maintaining a neat appearance.

My time with the Military has shown me the importance of patience, honesty, mentorship, teamwork, and timeliness.

Final Say

I am a Computer Information Systems student with limited real-world experience but practical knowledge and eager to get started. I'm aware starting over isn't an enjoyable thing, but I want to begin my career in information technology and see what it has in store for me. I want to impress employers and prove to myself that I have been making the right choices.

Having run my own company, which I'm quite proud of, and being in the military for the past 10 years doesn't make me qualified. However, the technical knowledge I have been fostering and the soft skills I have gained through experience allow me to feel comfortable with the idea of changing careers.
